Corporate social responsibility is an important mindset that is firmly embedded throughout our company. In Canada, Holcim organizes more than 200 annual events that bring us closer to local communities. Our plants and quarries are visited annually by thousands of school children and local residents for open houses, tree plantings and other educational activities...
We have a long-standing commitment to the communities where our facilities are located. In Canada, Holcim works alongside local communities on initiatives related to education and training, sustainable community development and improvements in local infrastructure.
Community Advisory Panels (CAPs)
Engaging with local stakeholders is a critical component of our efforts to contribute to effectively improve the quality of life in the communities around our operations - to learn from their experiences, as well as share our own; to consider stakeholders' input as part of our decision making processes; and to keep local stakeholders involved in planning and managing our efforts.
Each community that we are a part of has its own unique needs and concerns, which is why Holcim operates local Community Advisory Panels (or Citizens' and Liaison Committees) at its various locations throughout Canada. These organizations consist of representatives of the local community, including residents, public officials, industry and other stakeholders, and representatives of the local Holcim operation. Meetings are held regularly throughout the year, and provide a forum to engage in meaningful discussion, collaboration and information sharing.
