Habitat for Humanity Canada
At Holcim Canada, we are dedicated to working alongside local communities on initiatives related to sustainable community development, improvements in local infrastructure and environmental enhancement. Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada started nearly a decade ago when Dufferin Concrete, a division of Holcim Canada, began making material donations to Habitat ‘builds’.
Holcim Canada has now embarked on a multi-year national level partnership with the Habitat for Humanity 360 Built Smart Partnership. This collaboration allows us to put our commitment to building foundations for the future and our passion for building sustainably together to make a tangible difference in the lives of Canadians.
Helping to build homes in Haiti with the help of our customers
Holcim Canada proudly supported the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Haiti both in terms of monetary donation as well as sending a team comprising of senior management and customers to contribute manpower for the build itself. The team joined other volunteers in Haiti to build 100 homes in just five days this November! These are the first installation of 500 homes that Habitat for Humanity will build in Haiti over the next two years.
“This was an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives,” said Jean-Maurice Forget, General Manager, Demix Agrégats, “Holcim is committed to building sustainable communities and this was a great platform for us to make a tangible difference in the lives of people that are in true need of the basic human requirements of proper shelter.”
