Earth Week Activities at Holcim Canada

As an annual tradition, Holcim Canada once again rallied its employees, community partners and neighbours to celebrate Earth Week this year by undertaking activities to raise awareness about and to protect the natural environment in the communities where it operates.

Across the country, Holcim Canada’s business divisions raised awareness for environmental issues close to home, focusing on solutions such as water conservation, recycling of household materials and hazardous waste, as well as collecting used clothing for local charities and participating in local park clean ups.  In Quebec, the company is participating in Défi Climat, the province’s largest program to raise awareness and action towards combatting climate change.

To help make a positive difference in our communities, employees have taken part in the following activities at our various sites:

Holcim Canada employees in Quebec will once again participate in Défi Climat, the largest initiative in the province that engages and mobilizes people on climate change. Read more about our committment to the Défi Climat challenge here.

More than 10,000 native trees were planted at our sites by employees alongside local Scouts, Guides and students this spring.

In Mississauga, employees engaged with the local Community Advisory Panel (CAP) and the City of Mississauga to be part of the 20 Minute Makeover community cleanup!

Dufferin Concrete and Ontario Redimix employees received a reusable water bottle and some tips on water conservation.

In celebration of the centennial of our parent company, Holcim Ltd, a number of sites combined their Earth Week activities with the Together for Communities employee volunteer initiative. Click here to find out more.
