Colborne and Holcim Canada Celebrate Anniversaries

October 3, 2009 (Colborne, ON) – Holcim Canada today announced the dedication of a town clock to mark the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Colborne and the 50th anniversary of Holcim Canada’s operations at the Ogden Point Quarry.
The town clock, located at the corner of King Street and Victoria Square was unveiled by Mayor Marc Coombs. The ceremony was followed by children’s entertainment activities, cutting of a celebratory cake, bus tours to the Ogden Point Quarry and informative displays.
“We feel privileged and honored to have been a part of the Colborne community for half a century and we look forward to continue contributing to this community for many years to come”, said Nick Caccavella, Sr. Vice President, Ontario and Western Canada, Holcim Canada. He further added that, Holcim Canada was delighted to present this timeless contribution to the residents of the Cramahe Township.

They have been and continue to be good corporate citizens” states Pat Westrope, Councillor for Cramahe Township and Council representative for the initiative. “This beautiful clock will be a lasting symbol of the anniversaries that the Village of Colborne and the Ogden Point Quarry celebrate this year. It enhances our beautiful main street."
The celebratory event was attended by the local dignitaries, Holcim representatives, and the residents of the Cramahe Township.
