Dufferin Concrete invited customers, vendors, community members and local officials to an Open House at the new ready-mix concrete plant on Woodbine Avenue in Markham. Mayor Frank Scarpitti honored the guest from the community at the Open House and officially inaugurated the plant’s opening with the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The event drew more than 150 visitors who got the opportunity to learn more about the processes and operations at the plant. Attendees also viewed interesting displays about the company, such as its involvement in the community through partnership with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity.

One of the main attractions at the Markham plant Open House was a display of Dufferin Concrete’s new environmentally friendly ‘Enviroguard’ system. The system provides an environmentally responsive and economical solution for recycling materials and water that would otherwise be dumped or wasted on a job site.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti who gave the keynote speech during the inauguration ceremony said that the city is extremely proud of Dufferin Concrete’s sustainable development including environmental initiatives in Markham. He said that Dufferin Concrete has led by example on various environmental fronts such as their use of recycled water, beautifying the surrounding areas and offering environmentally friendly products.

“The Open House provided the community with a unique opportunity to learn more about our process interact with our people, take part in activities, and witness the latest innovations that we have implemented.” said Nick Cacavella, Vice President, Dufferin Concrete.
